As of December 2017, Relaxera and the group of Prof. Guy Salama (Heart and Vascular Institute of The University of Pittsburgh) entered into a research cooperation regarding the effects of relaxin in an animal model of HFpEF (“aged rat”). The focus of this research will, among others, be on relaxin’s effects towards isoform expression and phosphorylation of titin. Titin is a giant protein acting like a spring to determine compliance in relaxed heart and skeletal muscle; its function is clearly impaired in heart failure.
